Radiology and Nuclear Medicine's staff of interventional radiologists provide image guided surgical procedures via tiny incisions to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical problems. In many cases the incisions are so small that no stitches are required. Instruments are guided via these incisions through blood vessels and other pathways to access treatment sites. There is normally less pain than old-fashioned surgical procedures, and overnight hospital stays are often not required. The cost is typically lower than traditional surgical procedures.
